Good day to you Gurus,

Windows XP Home SP3
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3200. IGB RAM

If I try to start my computer I get the following message:-
LOGONUI.EXE. APPLICATION ERROR.
The instruction at 0x006002e1 referenced memory at 0x005F02e1 memory could not be written.
It makes no difference if I click on OK or Cancel.

I restarted in Safe Mode as myself and as Administrator and I cannot run Malwarebytes or CCleaner. I get the message:-
Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropiate permission to access.

I tried System Restore and got the message:-
System Restore has been turned off by group policy.

Your help, as always, will be appreciated.

George.

I would run either sfc /scanow (if system boots) or do a repair install of XP (if system does not boot into XP), assuming that I was sure that it wasn't a malware issue.

Reviewing various posts about this indicates file corruption of system files...but there seems to be no clear answer as to the root of the corruption, with malware being one of the mentioned possibilities for such.

The fact that program access is limited...IMO lends weight to the prospect of a malware situation...but damaged system files could also (IMO) create the same or similar symptoms that you listed.

Louis
