BleepingComputer.com: Monitor zoom issues

so, whenever I am using an application in full screen, like KotOR for example, whenever I alt-tab out of it or it refreshes the monitor upon entering a new scene, my screen zooms in to 640x480 resolution without changing the size.

to clarify, I see about a quarter of the screen at once and I can move my mouse to the sides to scroll the vies, but it is really annoying and the only fix seems to be restarting my computer.

is there a fix that will either remove this feature/bug (not sure which) or just provide an instant change to the screen? I tried changing the resolution lower and then back to what it was, and I tried restarting the monitor but nothing seems to work.

It would help if I knew a couple of things:

Monitor type
Video Card Make/Model and driver version

The monitor merely provides the image...that the system/video card sends as a signal.

Refresh rates and screen resolutions are governed by video drivers/video card/chip.

I would try uninstalling the video drivers and then reinstalling the same or a more current version...I suspect that the drivers are damaged/corrupted.

the drivers or the card is damaged? it just recently started and now my monitor will randomly shut off and take multiple restarts to recieve signal from the computer...
