BleepingComputer.com: Sudden Slow Startup

Does anyone know if rebuilding the boot.ini file would do anything different than just replacing the boot.ini file that was a backup from long before this problem started?

I replaced it with my backup and it did not make any difference. Seems to me a rebuild of it wouldn't be any different than what I did, but I do not know, does anyone else?

I would Do some hardware test just to clear them out of the way and Save your self time in case its not a Software/Windows problem.

Check your board for blown caps, Test your PSU, Test the HDD with the manufacturers test and check the memory and re seat it if necessary.

After those clear proceed to diagnosing Windows.


*Note also running a LIVE CD could help as well they contain many diagnostic tools and if the LIVE CD runs on your system with no problems then you can lean more towards your HDD or Windows being the problem

Mr.Nick, thank you but the only one of those things that I can do, I have already done, which is the hard drive test which was passed. Not only do I not have the Live CD, I have no idea what it is.
