A few months ago, I learned about Combofix and, in the interim, have run Combofix on a number of PCs to fix malware issues; I considered Combofix to be my "big gun" tool as it seemed to cure so many problems. For months, I only had success with it - until yesterday. When I ran it on two PCs yesterday, it ran normally and killed the malware issues; running MBAM afterward showed no further infections.
However, when I tried to print from these PCs, every program I tried would crash, even Notepad and WordPad. I can print test pages from the printer's Properties dialog without issue, but when I try to print from a program, the program crashes. I found several general "printing issues" hints on the Internet and ran them, but nothing helped. I think somethign has broken with the Print Spooler service, but I am not sure.
Until yesterday, I had run an older version of Combofix when working on PCs; however, yesterday, while browsing the BleepingComputer forums, I learned that there was a newer version of Combofix available. I downloaded it from the BleepingComputer site and, well, each PC on which I this new version now cannot print.
I can upload the logs, if needed. Please help! I would hate to have to quit using my "big gun" malware tool.
