Hi,
I’ve just upgraded to a new notebook and am having difficulty installing my printer software. The printing function works fine, it automatically installed when I plugged the printer in to a USB port. But I’m no longer shown eg how much ink is left in the cartridges, as previously. When I run the cd that came with the printer the process stops with the warning that certain stipulated registry keys do not exist and the installation cannot therefore continue. Suggestions appreciated.
The printer is deskjet HP 3900 series and the cd installed perfectly on my previous machine, which ran XP pro. The OS on my new machine is Vista.
Thanks.

Thanks, garmanma.
I downloaded the diagnostic tools and they told me everything was in order, but you gave me the idea of going to the HP website where I was told that there is no solution - the software won't work with Vista.
Anyway I'll hang on to the diagnostic tools, they may come in handy one day. Thanks again.
