Thunderbird refuses to launch. Help needed

Suddenly Thunderbird refuses to launch. I get the WXP message that 'thunderbird.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'. I have downloaded Thunderbird again but with the same result. Trying to launch in Thunderbird Safe Mode has the same effect.

I cannot get help from Mozilla either. I get an error report (SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]Data too long for column 'poster_ua' at row 1 [1406] --- from the Thunderbird Help Forum when I submit a request.

Please help!
