Acer aspire 5315 connected with limited access

Hi

I have a problem with two yes two Acer aspire laptops not connecting to the internet via wireless router. i have tried everything and i need any new ideas how i can get past this obstacle.

Acer Aspire 5315 [the first one has an in built camera the 2nd doesnt].
both run Vista Basic and both are service pack 2.

Are they connecting to the router? Meaning getting an IP address from the router. Have you tried connecting wired? Just to make sure you can get to the net that way.

If they aren't connecting to the router, is there security involved? WEP? WPA?

If they get an IP address, is there a firewall involved?

hie thanks for the speedy reply

i can connect both using cable. but i would like to use them wirelessly. my network has no password set so i don't think it has to do with that, does it?

When connecting with the wireless are they getting an IP address? You can check this a few ways, easiest is look for the wireless connection icon by the clock, looks like a PC with 3 lines like it is transmitting. If there is a red x on it, then you aren't even connecting to a wireless router. If no red X, mouse over it and see what IP address was assigned.

I am willing to bet they aren't even connecting to the router. I could be wrong tho lol. Have they ever worked wirelessly?
