Hello to all of you.

My PC configuration is as follows.

HP Compaq dx6100
Intel P-4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 248 RAM. (VERY LOW I KNOW)

I request to kindly provide some expert advice/comments on the following.

Recently I have come across the article of using pen drive as ram.

I did the following as advised in the article.

1. Formatted the pen drive (as FAT32 although not specified in the article).

2. In My computer > Proerties > Advanced > Performance (Settings) > Advanced > Virtual Memory > Change

I set my E drive (pen drive) custom size as 490 MB and Maximum Size as 490 MB ( My pen drive is 512 MB).

Then Set > Apply > Apply and rebooted the PC.

But in the General Tab of properties of My Computer, the RAM is still shown as 248 MB.

My query is :

1. Is it advisable to use Pen drive as RAM to speed up the PC.
2. How can I be sure that the Pen drive is being used by PC as RAM.
3. Any more steps in this regard.

Thanks and with best regards

WISHING ALL OF YOU HAPPY DIWALI

Manoj

Does not work for XP, some say it can work for Vista. I would need to see it myself to believe it.

hey ashmash132
If your computer is Vista and you want to use your pendrive as ram follow this tutorial.

However if your computer is XP based, you cannot work effectively that way. You can try eboostr and use that. However the trial version will only work for 4 hours at a time. There is a review here.

hope that helps
