I was wrong. I was able to sit through an episode of The Daily Show on hulu... until I closed firefox, came back to it, and still can't make it through an episode without firefox "hanging".

I wonder... in the Windows Task Manager, Firefox seems to have a very high mem usage. At this point it's centered around 200,000 K. Is that significant in terms of my problem?

I don't use Firefox so I don't know. I still think you should mess around with the addons. It seems to be a common problem with Firefox.

Sometimes I'm able to view entire videos, or play games online.... sometimes I'm not. I'm not sure why this is, but for some reason I doubt it's a problem with my add ons.

I went and downloaded registry booster 2010 and ran a scan... and it found 534 registry errors. Without purchasing the program, it cleaned up 15 errors for free.

Is there a way to further clean up my registry without having to pay for it?

I've never used a registry cleaner and the experts here don't recommend them because they can do more harm than good. And I use CCleaner for other things so I could use their registry cleaner if I wanted. I've been a member here for 2 1/2 years and I've never seen a registry cleaner solve anyone's problems. But I've seen plenty screw up their computers with them. You're looking for an easy answer. There isn't one. Tinkering with Firefox addons may be tedious but it's more likely to be the source of your problem that anything in the registry.
