http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_y...11174604AA2fgYl

Since yahoo answers is the least helpful site on earth, I figured I try a Computer specific site for real help.

I am not a computer whiz, so this is all I can give about my computer
- I have a Windows Vista, it's a desktop computer (or whatever you call the non-laptop ones)
-I've had it since 2007

My problem is that When I'm on normal mode on my Vista, only pictures and folders open. Even the Welcome Center thing doesn't come up! I can only open things on Safe Mode, but Safe Mode is annoying as hell because it only gives you the basic drivers, which takes away sound, computer games, and several other things I enjoy having. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have Prevx 3.0, which comes up with nothing about viruses, I think it's possibly a Vista problem.

If you need to know anything else, just ask.

I'm now on normal mode, but I fear the same thing might happen again. It's already happened once before.

And it happened again.

One... get rid of the Anti-Virus you have. Two, get MalwareBytes anti Malware, from
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php. Then run in Normal mode, if it works. If it doesn't work, run in Safe Mode. Then tell me what you get from that.

This is not the proper forum to request malware scans

Thank you, I'll try that.

Just so you know Malwarebytes does not replace your anti-virus

Hello ,yes Prevx is your Anti Virus and Malwarebytes is an anti malware tool. Similar but different and they will work together. In fact you need both.

I believe this BC Tutorual will be helpful.

Thank you ^.^
I really don't know much about computers, so you guys really are helping me learn a few things.

Right now I'm in normal mode, so I probably can do things more efficiently. I just have to wait for my older sister's approval though, as it's her computer as much as it is mine. Not to mention she knows how to handle these things better.

Ok. I sent the request for the software. I should be hearing back soon. Will Prevx work with Zone Alarm or do I need to Deactivate it?
