Can anyone tell me why I have 3 GB's of RAM, how come Vista Bus. isn't utilizing all of it? Sometimes after running graphic programs or surfing the web for a bit too long, my system starts slowing down and then I have to re-boot. I thought I was supposed to have a pretty fast system.... guess not, huh?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Angi

you can try getting rid of useless services and start up items

go to start>run>type in msconfig
go to the start up tab and unclick useless stuft
and then go to services and turn off useless stuff

if you dont know what some thing is then you can just leave it or seach it on google

I've used selective Start Up for years, NOTHING starts up except for my antivirus software.

As for that link about page file... sorry, that was a bit over my head.

Go to your Control Panel and double-click on the System icon
On your left, click on Advanced System Settings
Click on the Advanced Tab
Under Performance, Click on Settings
Click on the first button that says Let Windows choose your settings
Click Apply and then OK

operating systems can get filled up with stuff every where
and a good way to do that is to reformat and install vista again

BUT do what garmanma said to do first

Is your system actually slowing down or do you just think you're running out of RAM? The way that vista works is that when RAM isn't being used, vista uses up that RAM to make your computer load things quicker, and other things. Once that RAM is needed, vista will allot it to whatever you now need.

It does slow down. If I use Paint Shop Pro, or search the web for tubes or clipart, then at some point, things start taking forever to load up, so then I have to close everything out and reboot.
I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, could that be causing the problem?

Do you run regular Disk Cleanups and remove old System Restore Points - your useable HDD space could be getting chewed up and things will slow down?

Yes, I have Windows running my performance.

I run CCleaner every night, and I run Defraggler once a week.

Now Disk Clean Up I'm not familiar with...

Yes, I periodically turn off system restore so it will delete my old restore points.
