All right folks! I have been searching the internet for a computer Jedi that can answer my very specific question. I need a 100% yes answer! I have a dell inspiron 1501 running XP. I have swapped just about every part I can out of this computer. Next is the processor. I have just updated the bios to the latest and greatest. The question is......Can I switch the current processor, a AMD Turion 64 MK-36 with a AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-68? They are both s1 socket. The only difference is the MK-36 is a 30 watt and the TL-68 is a 35 watt. Also the MK-36 has a 90nm dye and the TL-68 has a 65nm dye. Please anwser my question! I found a very good price on a TL-68!

Not from me.

The motherboard chipset supports it. The only thing that would make me hesitate is the BIOS you are using. If the BIOS doesn't support the CPU then multipliers might not be set correctly. Find out what CPUs the BIOS supports.

chipset supports it, you just might have to update your bios to get it to function at 100%

I updated to the latest bios about a week ago. I just have to find out if my bios supports it now. Do you know where I can find out this information?
