I need to replace a fried processor in a T3265 emachines desktop.
Can someone tell me if a processor I found is compatible?
CURRENT PROCESSOR
AMD Athlon™ XP 3200+ Processor
QuantiSpeed™ Architecture operates at 2.200GHz
512KB L2 Cache & 400MHz FSB
Socket A 462 PIN
(Here is a link to more info on the existing setup if needed: http://www.emachines.com/support/product_s...amp;model=T3265 )
NEW PROCESSOR
AMD ATHLON XP 2800
BARTON CORE SOCKET A 462 PIN 2.083GHz
333 FSB 512 L2 KB
Obviously the socket/pin count is the same, and the operating speeds are pretty close, but beyond that I'm in the dark.
Thanks in advance!

You should be able to replace your existing processor with the 2800 but you may have to reset your bios or set a FSB ( front side bus ) speed jumper on the motherboard for it to boot up.
Hope this helps,
