BleepingComputer.com: Windows Security - Protecting your computer

There are some great programs out there to help us keep Malware, Trojans and Viri from infesting our computers. A number of them are listed in some of the replies to problems reported in this section of the forum (See the ENTHUSIASTs reply to "HHEEEELLLLPPP"). There is one site I haven't seen mentioned. It is Gibson Research Corp . The site is dedicated to anti hacking and any number of various kinds of threats. If you aren't familiar with it, I recommend it as being too good to ignore. It has software for sale, but it also has some good freeware. It will also scan your computer for vulnerabilities and give you a report on just how good your security is. They suggest you run the scan with your firewall enabled then run it with your firewall disabled. I haven't had the stones to make the second run, yet. I really don't like the idea of disabling my firewall (McAfee) for any reason. I'll take their word for it.
