WindowsXp and update XP Drives

When I start the computer this message is displayed:

Drive 1 not found: Serail ATA, SATA -1

Drive 2 not found: Serail ATA, SATA -2

Drive 3 not found: Serail ATA, SATA -3

PRESS f1 TO ESC or PRESS f2 For Setup Utility.

I press F2 and then selected the Drives from the BIOS blue screen and turn ON each Drive one at time, I even tried system restore from earlier date it does not work.

Any suggestion,advice will help and would appreciate the assistance in this matter. I have DELL XP Dimension Media for Home use

I am also unable to do Windows update even though it is on Automatic update. It asks to insatll ACtivex I did that, still does not work.
