BleepingComputer.com: Suddenly USB and DVD/CD are not recognized or working

Suddenly my computer won't recognize my Sandisk flash drive or any discs we try to run. Tells us to insert disc when we try to run it. Removable disc shows up when trying to open it through computer but it's not recognized when we try to run it. MS/MS Pro opened fine.AAutoplay came right up with MS Pro. Autoplay does not come up with USB or disc anymore. The only thing I have changed is updated and renewed AVG license and installed new version. Don't know if this was going on before AVG update or not. Tried system restored as it generally repairs all the minor problems we ever have. Running Vista Home Premium 32bit. About forgot that USB in rear are working fine. Mouse, printwer, wireless are all in back and no problems. Thanks for any assistance.
