Hi everyone, I hope somebody out there has a solution to this problem of mine.
I have a home network setup with 2 laptops connected to a Netgear router/modem via wireless. One of the laptops is running XP home and the other is running Vista home basic. It has been this way for a while without any problems.
The problem began when I tried to connect my Vista Pro PC directly into the Netgear router/modem. At first I will be online, and within minutes if not seconds it will go offline and crash the whole network. I.e the netgear router/modem LED starts to flash orange indicating that i've no internet connection thus the two wireless laptops also go offline. If I remove the ethernet cable from the PC, the router/modem will come back online within 3 - 5 minutes. I can't find much info on this other than it might be the router itself being too old for Vista. I don't think this is the case here because one of my laptops is running Vista, albeit Vista Home Basic and not Vista Pro. I've also tried to disable ipv6 on the Vista Pc which didn't make a difference.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I've been pulling my hair out for the last 3 hours. Thanks.
