laptop and pc connection issues

I have a laptop which is wireless enabled and works fine when my wired pc is on, but if the pc is turned off, yet the wireless router is still on my laptop wont connect to the internet, yet as soon as the pc is turned on then i am able to connect to the interent on my laptop.

Can you give us a picture of your network setup? Start with the wire coming out the wall.
