There were some files on my computer that I deleted using software that made files unrecoverable from the hard disk. Now, there are programs that recover deleted files.
When I run one of those programs, it showed the list of files that I deleted. Although the files couldn't be restored back on the computer, it showed the list of files that were once present on my computer.
How can I delete those traces? Is formatting my comp. an option?

Reformatting a hard disk deletes all data.
A low level format would make it extremely difficult for anyone to recover information that was on the drive before the format.
Use the free version of Active@ KillDisk.
Or Darik's Boot And Nuke
Keep in mind that you'll need to reinstall the OS after you do this.
