I have a dial-up. When I lose connection, I still have my icon at the bottom of my screen and the note says that I'm still connected. I have to "right click on it and tell it to disconnect before I can get it to connect again.
Thanks

Have you checked your settings under your ISP properties? You want to be sure that it never disconnects when idle. ISP's almost always (with Dial-up) have it set for "Disconnect if idle for x-amount of minutes" etc...
