Hi guys,

Fenzodahl is unable to continue to help as he is away. He told me to open a new topic with a link to the old one.
Basically what has happened since is I have purchased recovery discs from Acer, restored the computer to factory default, and now all is well except.....
Windows will not open!! The o/s automatically loads into the acer recovery utility, "Windows Setup". F8 doesnt help, can anybody help?

This sounds like you might have an issue with the installation. If it says "Windows Setup" with the black and white screen, it's not fully installed.
How did you re-install Vista? You might want to try doing a fresh install with reformatting the hard drive in the Vista installation menu. Try that and re-install Vista and tell us how it works out!

Ok I will try to get my hands on a copy of Vista (Acer doesn't want me to have the disc for my paid-for copy of windows for some reason), and try a fresh install.
I did not re-install, I used recovery discs that I bought from Acer and performed a "Restore to Factory Default". I've actually tried this process multiple times and I get the same result when I try to boot the O/S.
I've also tried using the "ultimate windows boot cd" or whatever its called. This gives me a few options for trying to fix the O/S. However, when I go to "Fix Startup problems" it tells me that it cannot detect any problems which would prevent windows from starting correctly..
What is going on?

If you can get a copy of Vista, and still have problems with an OEM install, it might be hardware. Try using UBCD to test your memory and Hard Drive.
