Hey guys I need help. All javascript in my IE doesn't work. It works in all my other browsers though. Also, whenever I type something on the address bar of IE and press enter, it opens in a new Firefox tab.

I also checked the the [internet options > security] for both local intranet and internet. Everything under scripting is enabled.

I really need help with this.

Thank you!

Wait... so if you opened up Internet Explorer, went to the address bar, and typed in http://www.google.com then Google would open in Firefox*?

What versions of IE, Firefox, and Windows are you running?

I'm not sure if IE Collection had something to do with it. I installed it the other day and until yesterday everything was working fine. I uninstalled the IE collection already but I still have that problem.

Ok. According to Mozilla, this can happen in certain cases where Internet Explorer 7 beta is installed along side Internet Explorer 6 or if an attempt to install IE7 failed.

There are two possible avenues to resolve this: Remove and reinstall IE7 (or even better, IE8) or, if you prefer to continue using IE6 (not recommended) you can attempt the solution I'll detail below:

WARNING: This solution involves editing the Windows Registry. Improper changes to the Windows Registry can have dire consequences. Always, always, always make a backup of your registry. You can use ERUNT, a superior and free Registry backup utility, to perform this backup for you.

1. Click on Start then on Run...
2. In the Run... dialog box, type regedit
3. In the Registry Editor, use the tree on the left to find this entry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6}
You can also press the F3 button to open the search box. Copy and paste this entire string into the search box and press enter.
4. Once you find the entry, right-click on it and click Delete, then click Yes to confirm.

5. Reboot and test IE.

Well I need IE6 for testing purposes. Anyway, I'll try that and post the result. Thanks!

Hey Andrew, I tried doing what you suggested and I also removed the IETab add-on of Firefox. The webpages don't open in Firefox anymore when I type it in IE but the Javascript still doesn't work. I've searched for it on the web and it's usually because of the Windows Scripting engine. I can't install Windows Script 5.7 because it says it's for SP2 only and I have SP3 installed.

You wouldn't happen to be using Norton or Symantec Internet Security, would you?

I tried installing IE7 and IE8. Still no Javascript. This is frustrating.
