BleepingComputer.com: sharing success story, xp spyware, rootkits, malware

i've heard people on the boards with firefox/google redirect problems, unable to run spybot, adaware, hijack this, malwarebytes etc. because of unknown causes. even in safe mode . this was all me several days ago. couldn't uninstall those programs, permissions changed. windows installer service could not be accessed errors. couldn't rename the files to run them either. programs would run then disappear, no process at all. disable registry tools entry changed. i was really screwed. then i saw a post that mentioned combofix in conjunction with atf cleaner and dr. cureit, sdfix. eventually i got everything out, now all programs run properly. i believe the combofix found some nasty stuff. rootkits etc. i have a list of what i had to do if anyone is curious, but just posting that it is possible.

I'm glad combofix worked for you AND that you had no issues after using it.
