I just built myself a brand new computer and I was wondering what good temps were for the CPU.
Here are the specs:
CPU - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz - Overclocked to 3.8 GHz
MoBo - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
Fan/Heatsink - COOLER MASTER Intel Core i7 compatible V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
RAM - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Case - COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
GPU - XFX GX295NHWFC GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit DDR3 PCI Express
Thermal Compound - OCZ OCZTFRZTC Freeze Extreme Thermal Conductivity Compound
And Here are my temps:
28c - Idling
70c - 100% cpu with prime95 ran for an hour
Now do you guys think that's too high of temp?
Any help is appreciated!

IMO, that is pretty impressive. Especially considering the OC on air.
Nice job on the build.

What program are you using to get your temps?
920D0@3.7, 35C idle, 75C loaded, stock voltages
S1283 with Shin Etsu. Temps taken with Coretemp
Now with Speedfan my temps are 17C idle and 57C loaded, but I tend to believe Coretemp in this case.

I used both Core Temp and Speed fan , sitting around 70-71c. My cores aren't staying the same though, They're about 1c off, like 2 will be 70c and 2 will be 71c - I know this means I didn't apply the compound evenly but is 1c really something to fuss over?

That's normal. Not much you can do about a temp differential between cores. I have seen some where cores are within 2C of each other, some have a 4-5C spread. I always figured it has something to do with the interface between heatspreader and CPU core, and there is nothing I can do about that.
