Hello everyone,

For some odd reason, Avira AntiVir Personal isn't updating, automatic or manual. The automatic update can't connect to Avira's servers, while my browser can't connect to the manual update site. This probably isn't an infection, since Malwarebytes can still update, there are no symptoms and I can still connect to other antivirus sites (such as Kaspersky's).

Is anyone else having this problem?

Avira AntiVir Personal servers are overloaded and showing outage and you may fave problems updating. This is happening for last one month or so.
Avira forums advise to get Avira AntiVir premium as premium servers are running fine.

Try updating at a time when its midnight in Europe [Well it worked for me ]

Unfortunately, I don't have the money to upgrade to Premium. Should I just switch to another AV such as Avast?

As I said you may update Personal edition at times when Europe is sleeping, as somebody told on Avira forums; reason was given that Avira servers are located in Europe and they get a little free at around midnight. I dont know how much truth is in it, but it seems to work for me. Do not get discouraged so soon. I would say wait 2-3 days before you decide to switch to avast! if updates still dont work.

Hmm...midnight in Berlin is around 6 PM where I live. I'll try to update Avira at that time.

EDIT: Are they planning on fixing this issue?

Yes, Avira has been informed of this issue and they say that a new 5MB update has been released. Due to large size of update server utilization is high. It would become normal in few days.

Actually I observed my last update was more than 5.4 MB
