Hi guys!

Recently had a problem with my hard drive on a dell inspiron 1545 and it was replaced with windows vista being re-installed.
Am now getting the above mentioned error. I think it is linked to the audio driver. I have tried installing the latest driver from the dell website, but no luck.

You have all updates for Vista from that 1545 driver page? More than just IDT drivers. Bios is now A08? Only 1545 users know if that matters. Keep it in mind if nothing else works.

Have no idea but think I would update to SP2 and see what happens.

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums...e6-4f88c8138197 not same computer but Vista64bit, same idt audio chip and same error. He fixed it by driver update. You already done that.

OS is partly Dell with all their bundled programs so may be better to ask at their laptop forum http://en.community.dell.com/forums/3516.aspx Perhaps an issue where you need to know all details of that particular model. Could be something unrelated to audio service/driver that trigger error.

What will not hurt is to type "cmd" in startmenu, rightclick and chose run as administrator. Then fire off "sfc /scannow" Checks system files for errors. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic43051.html for xp but same thing. And of course issues...

Come to think of it also run chkdsk, cant find directions here so http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67612-ch...isk-chkdsk.html

If you post at Dell forum tell them you have done these 2 attempts to fix the unknown.
