Using Windows Vista my computer will not start unless I go through "Advanced Boot Options" [F8]. I then have to scroll down to "Start Windows Normally". Now it will start! I have tried Start-up Repair many times, occasionally successful, most times not. I would like to get back to starting by pressing the ON button as before, and not having to go this extra effort. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim.

When did this start happening. Can you remember doing anything prior to this happening, installing anything, virus problems etc.Have you a system restore point you can go back to before this started to happen. When you say you would like to start using the ON BUTTON do you not put your system to sleep or hibernate when you log off?Or are you refering to restarts?

I am no expert on these things but could it be your cmos battery. If that is faulty it would make you lose your settings.Only a suggestion unless someone else chips in.
