I partially installed a program associated with my new LinkSys router--Trend Micro Security something or other. When I saw the size of the program being installed and that it was a pay program, I clicked cancel part way through the process. Now my computer freezes on startup as Trend Micro tries to load. Can someone help me use safety mode or the Windows Recovery module or some such to stop this program from loading on startup and to help me get my registry etc. back in shape? As implied, I got help before and in doing so installed the Windows Recovery module as well as hijack this and ComboFix. I also have installed a utility called something like Startup Cop as well as a registry monitor utility. I'm not an idiot, but I ain't no expert in computers. Please help me get my computer back. I'm shamelessly begging.

Try getting into Safe Mode and doing a System Restore to a date prior to your attempted download.

Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore.

When this opens make sure that "Restore my computer to an earlier time" is chosen, and click on Next>.

The dates appearing in bold are the dates that you can restore to, click on the date that you want and then click Next> to start the System Restore. This may take a long time to complete, and when it is done it will restart your computer. When the computer restarts and you have logged on as the administrator a Restoration Complete page will appear, click on OK to complete the process.

Thank you thank you thank you. Worked like a charm. It may seem simple, but if you don't know it, it's baffling. Now I can cancel with the site that wanted to charge me $18 but didn't manage to give me advice that worked. It's just great that you offer your help here. Hoozah!!!!
