Say I wanted to browse anonymously, I know there's website like proxies4free.com that provide a list of proxies and ports you can use to mask your ip address. My question to you is, is it safe?
If I do online banking / data transfers / or just store important information on online servers, are those proxie servers routing my information to another system where it potentially could be logged/stolen?
Also, if it is risky, say I have a desktop and a laptop. Can I take the IP of the desktop and port number (from ipchicken.com) and use it on my laptop as it's proxy?
Thing is though, with a wireless gateway it'd probably be using NAT, so would the ip address translation equate to a valid ip or a default? If it's default, I see it probably wouldn't work, but if it's an actual valid ip, it seems sensible...
*edit* Also, does anyone know of any anonymity programs that are worth their weight?
