I just installed the latest free version of Avast. It blocked my internet connection.

Tried a few settings...nothing.

Uninstalled, Reboot...I'm back!

Are you using some kind of firewall?
avast! uses an HTTP proxy server called Web Shield for scanning all HTTP traffic. In simple words it scans all the data before it gets downloaded n your browser. If you do not allow avast! Web Shield to access internet and act like local server then, you wont be able to access web sites in your browser.

Two possible solutions - Disable Web Shield component in avast! settings, or allow ashWebSv.exe in your firewall.
