well, I ended up getting a laptop from a friend however it needs a new hard drive. I was just wondering when looking for hard drives what do I need to look for to make sure it is compatiable for the computer. I would like to find at least a 320gb hard drive. any help would be great.

it is a HP - Compaq Business Notebook nx7400 Laptop

Thanks
Sam

Almost all laptop hard drives are 2.5 inches. What interface is the drive? SATA or PATA (IDE)? If it is a SATA drive, which most newer laptops are, then the Western Digital Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB would be a good choice.

I'm not sure if you read my edited post prior to posting your response, but I suggested the the Western Digital Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB.

Almost any 2.5 inch drive will work. The drive I chose is a performance drive at 7200RPM. Many laptop-grade drives spin at 5400RPM making them a bit slower.
