Can't read chinese

I'v just downloaded a game in chinese for my computer. However, it seems that all the words in the game appears as weird symbols. I have no problem with chinese characters in IE & file names etc. Is there a way to enable the computer to read those words properly??? The windows edition i'm using is Windows Vista Home Premium,Service Pack 1. Please feel free to request for other information as i'm someone not really good with computers and does not know what is related to this problem. Please help me. Thanks.

The site provided ways to display chinese in IE,type in chinese and changing window interface to chinese. However i'm unable to find any related information about displaying chinese in programs. Could it be that i missed out some part of the website which is related to this problem, or is it that the problem is related to something not found in that website?Please direct me if i missed out anything on the website. Thanks.
