Hi there everyone,

I have a problem with both excel and word in that the files take over 20 s to open, on my work network or at home. OS - windows xp, office 2000 SR-1 professional. I run sophos av regularly and just downloaded avast av. Also ccleaner, adaware and spybot run once or twice a week. Defrag and disk check usually once a month (Is this all a bit obsessive?).... Anyway excel and word files are slow to open whether I click on the file directly or open excel or word first and then open the file. I was going to run combofix but thought I better not without expert help! Any help you can give would be much appreciated and may also prevent me going crazy! Thank you.

You should only have one AV on your computer
Two will conflict with each other

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits

Hi,

I have now removed Avast and will stick with Sophos. Thanks.

Susie
