That looks interesting, I'll have to check it out. I just noticed that Norton did install a similar plugin to Firefox called Site Safety. I certainly don't need both, but it's interesting seeing their conflicting results in google searches. Check out their differences of opinion on this random site.

The BitDefender plugin can be disabled, but not uninstalled.

I'm really not sure what it's doing. I don't see any toolbar.

Im not surprised, here is WOTs page for that site http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/zoom-bro...vista-files.org Each entry has own page where you can write/read comments. Open door for spam but sometimes you also run into people who have done actual test of fake registry booster  Take few seconds to find malware domains with fake AVs etc. which Norton, Mcafee have no clue about - and are blocked by WOT. 50% of such a service is database, 50% is plugin and you can customize it - so I see 100% reason to prefer WOT.

Just dont be a slave of yellow or half red lamps. Full red should of course be checked really well if even visited. You must have good reason to visit such a site. Yellow can be debated, will not cause harm directly but product might be crap, bad business ethics or whatever.

Dont really know much about TB but I would guess Bitdefender have placed extension in profile folder? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons If you disable it should be ok. But then lets hope Bitdefender is neutralized!

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately it didn't remove the add-on when I did it manually. I've posted a question on the BitDefender forum asking. A couple more people showed up saying 2010 is broken for them as well. Terrible.

They must know. If not in profile folder and not in program folder under extensions folder it must be a Global extension added in registry http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add...istry_extension which just make it more strange that uninstall tool could not deal with it. Could it be you had TB open when running uninstaller and that made it skip? File or files are probably in Bitdefender folder, in theory they can be anywhere - under common files, in Window folders. If toolbar is installed through registry I dont know if entry will dissapear in TB when no file found. Should be harmless but annoying.

Reminds me of .net mess from MS There are strange ways of tricking Mozilla programs, http://adblockplus.org/blog/the-return-of-...ework-assistant. Read what he say in reply to first comment. Hopefully Bitdefender are not trying to be smart like MS. I wonder if Firefox/TB clean up those registry entries during uninstall?
