BleepingComputer.com: BIOS can't find hard drive

After a power outage my computer won't start up. Bios can't find hard drive. It's a WD SATA. Ran boot diagnostics on it and came back with no errors. Tried to force bios to recognize it but didn't. I'm thinking it's the mobo but wonder if I get a SATA to IDE adapter and hook to the IDE port will it be recognized?

Have you tried a different SATA port? Is there anything else on SATA that is working? How can you run boot diagnostics on a drive that your computer can't find?

Yes tried both SATA ports. The diagnostic boot disc worked. Go figure

It could be a driver issue. Is the drive running in SATA mode or SATA emulation mode?

Yes its in the bios. When the power went out it may have damaged something in the SATA controller. If you have the manual or know the make of your computer or motherboard you can look up the instructions for the bios on the internet. It will tell you where to change the setting to IDE emulation mode. I would try that before ordering an adapter card. Post back if you need help finding the manual. I will respond tomorrow. I will need the make and model of the computer or the make and model of the motherboard. At the very least what BIOS your computer has.. IE: Award, AMI, Phoenix (I belive that is AWARD) ETc...
