I have a IBM 8172 Thinkcentre small desk top PC & replaced the old AXVcd/DVD ROM drive with a Sony NEC Optiaric Dvd burner [AD-7200A ] & used device mgr to uninstall the AXV rom drive , the problem is every time I restart it reappears . I used reg-seeker & did a search for AXVcd/dvd & it could find nothing . Will this cause any problems with the Sony burner ?

Cheers Ozi

Reappears where?

Does your BIOS reflect it? Does Disk Management reflect it?

Thanks Hamluis
It shows up in My Computer as as drive E & when I go into Hardware Mgr it is also there. As for BIO's I have not checked yet & if it is there can I disable it permanently from there ? And as my orig question , will it interfere with my Sony burner ?

The BIOS is the first place to check, when wondering about the status of drives attached to the motherboard.

I am not comfortable going into BIO's & will leave it if it is not interfering with my burner .[ At times burner will not eject burnt disc ]

Ozi

Update , only new Sony drive shows up in BIO'S .
