Forum Rules

When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

ok, it all started when i did a stupid thing like clicking a link someone i dont know sent to me through aim. After i did that, my aim started opening IM windows of everyone online on my list. Then it started sending the link automatically to everyone online on my msn. Didnt really do anything to yahoo. And also right after i clicked the link, mozilla firefox stoped opening, so im useing IE right now. I dont know whats goin on but i have a feeling its all linked to that link, and i think that link was a virus. Also, when i start my computer, it asks me if i want to run xmconfig.exe, and i aint gonna take a chance of that being a virus or not. i really dont know what to do so if you heard of this program before and know what it is, i would like to know. If you know how i could fix this problem, please tell me. i have a HP with windows XP home, cable (tellin you incase it might help). I really want to fix this problem so if you could help, i would appreciate it. Thanks.

xmconfig.exe - Added by the W32/Rbot-AHR worm. When started, this infections connects to a remote IRC server where it waits for commands to execute.

Run these online virus scanners:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If that doesn't help, then:

Read How to post a HijackThis Log.
Please read, and follow, all directions carefully.

Then, run a log, and post it in the HJT forum, at this link. Do not, fix anything, yet.
A member, of the HJT Team, will help you out.
It may take a while to get a response, because the HJT Team are very busy. Please, be patient, these people are volunteers. They will help you out, as soon as possible.

NOTE:
Once you have made the post, please, DO NOT make another post in the HJT forum, until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The first thing they look for, when looking for logs to reply to, is 0 replies. If you make another post, there will be 1 reply. The team member, glancing over the replies, might assume someone is already helping you out, and will not respond. So, just make your post, and let it sit there, until a team member responds. This way you will be taken care of, in the most timely manner.
