I currently experienced the Antivirus Gold trojan, and I'm not sure I have gotten rid of it. My problem is that I cannot reformat my computer and reinstall Windows XP Professional. When I try to boot from disk, it starts to look like it will start to reformat, but then it says that I'm not connected to my hard drive. This makes me think that I still might have the virus, but after downloading 10+ programs and followed 3 different sets of instructions to remove, I believe I have gotten rid of it all. I don't have a floppy disk instsalled so I can't boot from disk. I've put in about 15 hours of swapping hard drives/installing/rebooting/etc. and i'd like to know if there's just the easy solution to clear my hard drive and start over. I don't need anything from my pc at this point. Thanks in advance.

P.S. My knowledge in computers is pretty limited, so if you get technical on me I will most likely need some detailed instructions.

Yea it is, but I'm just going to take it to a local repair shop. I'm sick of dealing with this.
