Friend has 2004 HP Media Center. He says that he has rarely been able to burn a DVD. He is using Sonic software and also Burn4Free software. He can burn a CD. ALSO, he cannot burn a DVD using my external USB2 DVD burner. Gets a message saying that there was a problem and to try again and then insert another DVD. Something is happening as the DVD is ruined. Happens with different brands +R and +RW.

Since he tried two different software programs it does not appear to be a burning software problem. Since he also cannot write to my USB2 DVD burner, it does not appear to be a hardware problem. He says that drivers are up tp date.

Any ideas?

-Bob

Maybe it only writes -R and -RW. I'm not the most knowledgable about DVD burning. I have an NEC DVD burner and have no troubles with it. What sort of DVD's are these? Backup, Home video, Games...
