On the other hand I recommend BlueHost.com. I have been using them for years. Their interface is extremely simple to use, feature rich, and well laid out. When you do have a question they almost always answer within seconds of calling and every support person seems to know the answer to every question I have had. Here is a link to see what they offer: http://www.BlueHost.Com/tellmemore

Then why even comment on it? This is a public forum for exchanging information. If you had problems with GoDaddy, then say what sort of problems that you had. If you had a good experience with a hosting company, please tell us why. I for one have never had problems with GoDaddy. Admittedly their interface became more complex when they upgraded, but that has nothing to do with their hosting. With any new UI, it takes a bit to re-orient one's self. GoDaddy also has 480 505 8877 listed as their toll-free support number.
According to several sites, GoDaddy is at least in the top 25 for hosting services. Bluehost is top 5 in one survey, and not even in the top 25 in other surveys. 1and1 rates fluctuates between top 12 and top 20
I maintain a site hosted on 1and1, and I have yet to hear back from tech support in over a year. Their hosting is fine though; I have never had a probelm with the site being unavailable, and their admin interface is easy enough.

Dreamhost on the other hand I have nothing but good things to say. They are currently offering an unlimited plan for their 11th birthday which looks pretty sweet. Their panel is nice, and they let you host porn (not that you are), but it's nice to know their rules are loose.

The purpose of a forum is to exchange experiences, and ideas, and to help the community. That means if you have issues, then share your experience and let the rest of us decide if the problems are your fault, or are indeed with whatever service that you are criticizing.

Now the company I use uses Apache, has shell access, offers everything in a lum sum package for around $70 a year (includes Mysql database, photo album, email accounts, domain privacy etc)
If you want a "shopping cart" the cost is around $120 a year, and they include their SSL certificate so you dont have to purchase your own.
Check them out here
Another think I like is when I call at 3 am I get an ENGLISH speaking rep on the other end, and when I have problems it is fixed almost instantly...once a client deleted some server files on their site- called in & with in 5 mins they had restored the server files.
