I have a new custom-built PC. Running Adobe Elements 7 and attempted to upload a VOB file on 3 Aug 09. Programme failed to respond several times. Uninstalled Elements 7 and attempted to reinstall, only to find that DVD read/write drive has disapppeared. System info tells me that the driver is ok, but that it can't locate the drive. Last system restore is dated 2 Aug 09, restore doesn't reset any files. How can I get the drive to work?

Have you tried the upper/lower filters routine?

Yes, found upper filter was missing in registry. Inserted it with correct code and lo and behold, DVD player restored!
Thank you so much!
