My desktop:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz (Socket 478)
GPU: ATI Radeon 9250, PCI w/ 128 MB DDR RAM
RAM: 768 MB DDR RAM
HDD: Maxtor 6Y120P0 (120 GB, 7200 RPM, PATA HDD)
Mobo: Original eMachines T2894 board
Optical Drives: 2x Lite-On (Model Unknown, one's black and one's white...it looks out of place with a silver faceplate. Both are CD-RW)
Linksys WMP54GS Wireless-G card with Speedboost
Linksys 10/100 Ethernet card (model unknown)
Acer X193w b flat panel LCD (19 inch)
Altec-Lansing 2.1 speakers w/ 20 watt amplifier
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP3
1 front USB port and 8-in-1 memory card reader, front audio-out and headphone jack

My laptop:
Gateway 400VTX
Mostly stock
Upgraded to 512 MB DDR266 RAM
30 GB Hitachi TravelStar

Both are ancient (one's 2005, the other I don't know about, I got it from a friend who gave it to me when he left for boot camp... )

I'd say that if one of those, or both, get you here on BC

I have run older machines with good luck.
As long as you know the PCs limitations then you you do`t need the latest and greatest to be content.

And Hey, the price was right.

Pfft! Everyone knows that you need to upgrade your entire computing environment every 36.278 days! How else can you expect to run all the latest and greatest malware without serious slowdowns?

Actually, I echo what JohnWho said; if it works enough to get me to BC, then I can cope...

Celerons with the Prescott core are great for overclocking.

My system temp hovers around 40°C. It's a Prescott Celeron and currently OC'd by 20% to 3.2GHz. I've had it as high as 3.46GHz but it did tend to heat up a bit at that level (30% OC)


To date, this has not happened to me
