Every time I open task manager and go to the performance tab, I see this HUGE spike in usage and then it drops down. It goes up to 100% CPU usage, but as soon as its opened it drops down like nothing even happened. I heard the Sasser worm could do this, but how could I be infected? And if I am, how do I get rid of this? In addition, everything seems to run smoothly when task manager isn't open, so how could it possibly be up that high?

This is normal for XP. I've seen it many times. The spike in CPU usage is caused by the actual Task Manager itself.
