I had too many unused entries on my task bar start menu so I decided to "Pin to Start menu" those I wanted and remove from this list the ones I didn't want. It all went according to plan but now I when I click on Start I get a menu which stretches all the way to the top of my screen with all my shortcuts in the top half and nothing at all in the bottom half. Is there a way to reduce the height of the menu or make it revert to the original size?.

Hi!

When you pin a program to the start menu, you ensure that it is always visible just when you click the start menu. From your description, it sounds like you pinned too many programs. Try right-clicking and unpinning some of the programs and see if that fixes the problem.

I figured it out thanks. When I right clicked on Start and chose customize I put 12 in as the amount of start entries thinking that would be more than enough. In fact this must be how many entries are allowed in the part underneath which of course in my case expanded the Start menu option to the height of the screen.
