hi, i have received a q9550 in error instead of the q9650 i've ordered, they gave me a call and told me that tomorrow they would send someone to pick my computer in order to swap the processors.
question is, do i need to reinstall windows for it to recognyze the new processor?
my system is:
asus striker 2 extreme ultra SLI
8gb corsair ddr3 1600mhz
-going to replace the q9550 for the q9650
does the rest matter?
thank you for your help

You don't need to reinstall windows. Just replace the processor and thats all you need to do.

The only time you have to do a reinstall/repair is when moving to a multicore from a single core CPU. As long as the OS was installed on a system with 2 or more cores, it is good to go.
