BleepingComputer.com: ac power usb port

I need more power from my usb port on my computer. I have a magic jack phone connection to the internet and although it works ok for outgoing calls there is no ring on incomming calls unless the cord to phone is 6 ft or less. I presume that my usb ports are weak and wonder if by adding a usb ac powered port it would provide the jack with more power?

I use magic jack as well. But our set-ups are apparently different.

Where it sounds like you have several phone lines hooked into your magic jack which is not the intended set-up. I use a phone set-up like this. EXAMPLES. Only the base station needs to be hooked to the magic jack. The handsets only need an AC outlet.

Phones listed in your examples are reported not to ring so the problem is not enough REN. The ring is where most of the voltage goes. The origonal ring was a sine wave and the phone company put out 5 REN so a household could have the bells work on 1973 telephone for up to 5 phones. Now we have VOIP devices that put out square wave, trapazoid etc and the cycles are not t

That is an option. I did not look at the cost.

If the cordless phones do not fit your needs. My 1 base station with two sub-stations, totaling 3 handsets and can be expanded was under $100.00 at a local large retailer.
