Hey!

I'm hoping anyone here can help me out with something. I have a nearly two-year-old Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. I just tried to install a game (Mortal Kombat 4--I know it's old but it's one of my favorites) and it won't install, citing a "start menu error". I'm not sure what it means and I tried to Google a way to solve it but it just made me more confused.

Any suggestions, solutions? Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi, Mortal Kombat 4 will not run on Vista, as it was release in 1997 or so you may be able to use a free progarm called dosbox http://www.dosbox.com/

yer you need something like a dos emulator
a other thing you can do is right click on the .exe and then pick windows 95 or 98 in compatibly

you should get a nintendo 64 and then get killer instinct gold
thats a far better fighting game then any mortal kombat game or any fighting game

I've been trying to solve the same problem. I registered here to post the solution I worked out:

To install and play Mortal Kombat 4 in Vista:

Click setup.exe.
Choose installation folder (create it later).
Get error message.
Do not click "Clean up."
CTRL-SHIFT-ESC and kill setup.exe process.

Create installation folder (selected during setup).
Copy all files in DATA folder on CD to installation folder.
Rename MK4.exe to Mortal Kombat 4.exe.

Install patch (optional).

FIGHT!

Regards,

Amillennialist
