I'm building my first Gaming PC and would like to know if these parts are compatible:
-Processor: AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition 2.8GHz Dual Core - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103678
-Video Card: : Radeon HD 4870 1GB (PCI) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150395
and,
Motherboard: Which one should I get and which one, or both, are compatible with the parts above?
Option 1: ECS BLACK SERIES GF8200A (V1.0) AM2+/AM3 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813135085
Option 2: MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813130223
I'm thinking about going with the ECS Black Series because it looks like it supports the Processor but I'm not sure. Please give any suggestions!
Thanks So Much,
dwmcc.

That processor isn't good. The original Phenom's (Which that Athlon is based) had problems, whereas their successor, the Phenom II, fixes them and has better performance. The graphics card is a great choice so keep it. That ECS board is okay, but there are better choices. You also cannot use AM2/AM2+ CPU's on AM3 motherboards, below is a suggetion.
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 DDR3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard - The MSI you chose is more of a high-end motherboard, so I got one that is also high-end, just from a different manufacturer with a lower price. This board allows for Crossfire, AM3 processors, and DDR3 RAM. If you want a less expensive motherboard than this but are willing to give up Crossfire (using two or more graphics cards) the GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 is a good alternative. $129 (Before $15 mail-in rebate)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz - This processor performs better than the Athlon or Athlon II at a slightly higher price. This processor is also Black Edition so you can easily overclock it. $99
RAM: Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 - You need DDR3 for this motherboard. $57

Sorry to use someone elses post, but I too am doing a build and need some thoughts...I have $500 to spend and here's what I've chosen so far........................PSU: Antec EA650......RAM: Kingston 2x2Gb 1066MHz.......CPU:AMD Phenom 2X3 tricore(heard it had good overclocking results)I believe its a black edition 770?......Mobo: ECS Black GF8200A......Video Card: HIS Radeon 4850 1Gb 256Mb Q cooler included(also heard of this card being overclocked with success.........Well fella's what do you think and can I improve this with the same budget? Oh btw...Price total from Newegg.com like $450... Thanx in advance.

I don't think dwmcc would mind too much. I would suggest getting a different motherboard. That ECS motherboard is old and should be avoided if you can afford something else. I suggest, if you're not planning to use multiple graphics cards, the GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard. If you do want to use multiple graphics cards, the ASRock M3A780GXH/128M AM3 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard. Pair that with your chosen processor and the RAM I suggested in a previous post, and you'll be all set.

I like this motherboard choice
