Sorry if we seem to be backtracking here a bit, but because I am not standing over your shoulder, I need to be sure we eliminated the obvious.

In regards to installing updates, did you download and install Microsoft Update? If not, do so now. This is critical because Microsoft Update installs everything you need to be able to skip straight to SP3.

In regards to your video problem, I want you to go to the following website:

Cut and paste the website into your browser window without the quotes. This will take you to the Dell Support website and the video software you need to download for your specific machine. Download all three and install them in this order:
  • 845 G/GL Integratd Video Driver for Intel Grantsdale G Integrated Video
  • 82865G Intel Graphics Controller Driver
  • Intel Driver for Springdale G Integrated Video
Once you install all three, that should fix your video problem

When done post back here.

Edit: Edited to remove unnecessary quote. ~tg

I hope we are talking about the Dell video drivers. If that's the case, try this:

Go to http://support.dell.com

Choose support by model

Choose Dimension 3000

When it asks to view downloads, choose Video, and make sure the operating system is Windows XP

Download the three files named in the previous post.
