Dear All

I am getting the above error when I try to open Outlook 2007 on Windows XP. There is a quick fix to this which is to run 'outlook.exe /resetnavpane', which I find from a quick internet search. However, this is a one time fix, and I am having to do it every single time that I boot up. Is there a more permanent fix to this problem - hopefully the fact that the above fix works will identify the root of the problem. If anyone knows this and can help I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Adam

Is that the error message in its entirety?
Could you provide a link to the outlook.exe /resetnavpane fix so we can look at it and see exactly what it does?

Although this fix can be found on many forums, there is little information available on what it exactly does.

I've found these two links that provide a bit of information:

Clears and regenerates the Navigation Pane for the current profile.

Adam,

Try creating a new mail profile while retaining the old one and seeing if the problem persists (Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles...).

Thanks Chris,

I tried the fixes you recommended. Adding a new profile worked fine - I chose the option to do so without setting up a designated email address. However, when I came to run Outlook afterwards it did not see any profiles, and when I went back to the control panel, there were none there. Very bizarre. I performed a system restore to repair this, and after doing so Outlook opened fine. Fingers crossed it will continue to do so.

Cheers guys

Adam
